It recognizes employees who do more than what is expected in their everyday work.\u00a0Employees who receive this award are also a great example of one or more of our values: community, respect, excellence, and dignity<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Nominations were open from March to April 2026. All staff, members of the community, clients, and their families could nominate a Circle of Care employee using our nomination form online. Winners were voted upon by the Senior Management Team. Our winners will be celebrated at a Circle of Care event and luncheon with Carey later this month.<\/p>\n

Champion of the Year – AnnMarie <\/span><\/span><\/span>Cross, Personal Support Worker<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/h4>\n

This award is given to an employee who consistently performs at an exceptional level, and whose efforts are truly outstanding.<\/p>\n

AnnMarie played a crucial role in supporting a client at risk of eviction<\/strong>. Knowing that the condition of the home would be an important factor during the landlord’s visit and assessment, AnnMarie took the time to assist the client with tidying and organizing the space<\/strong> beforehand. She approached this with sensitivity and respect<\/strong>. Rather than making the client feel ashamed or judged, she offered support in a way that was empowering and dignified. Her involvement made a meaningful difference. After the landlord’s assessment of the home, the client was no longer facing eviction and AnnMarie’s hands-on support was an important part of that success. \u200b<\/strong>[\/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line”][vc_column_text css=”” text_direction=”default”]\n

Champion of Care – Alena Basalayeva, Homemaker<\/h4>\n

My husband, Eli, has dementia and I am going through cancer treatment. Through it all, Alena has been a <\/strong>steady, compassionate presence<\/strong>. What sets Alena apart is her ability to anticipate needs before they are even expressed. Whether it’s gently guiding Eli through moments of confusion or providing encouragement during my difficult treatment days, or simply taking extra time to listen and offer comfort, she brings<\/strong> humanity and warmth<\/strong> into every aspect of our care. She does not treat this as just a job \u2014 it is clear she sees the whole person behind the condition.\u200b<\/strong>[\/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line”][vc_column_text css=”” text_direction=”default”]\n

Champion of Care – Samickshya Shrestha, Personal Support Worker<\/h4>\n

Samickshya consistently delivers care that not only meets expectations but elevates the entire client experience<\/strong>. She demonstrates combination of clinical awareness, compassion, and adaptability<\/strong>, allowing her to provide care that is truly individualized and responsive<\/strong> to each client’s needs. Ontario Health atHome formally commended Samickshya through a written letter<\/strong> after receiving exceptional feedback from a client. The client shared that she has “never had anyone like Samickshya as her PSW.”<\/strong> This level of recognition from OHaH is not common and reflects the meaningful impact Samickshya has on those she supports.\u200b[\/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line”][vc_column_text css=”” text_direction=”default”]\n

Champion of Care – Gilyana Bogaeva\u200b\u200b, Personal Support Worker<\/h4>\n

I live alone and have been receiving services through Circle of Care for several years, and during that time I have met several caregivers. Gilyana stands out as truly exceptional.<\/strong> She does not simply complete her assigned duties. She pays close attention to my needs, anticipates problems, and finds thoughtful solutions that make my life safer and more comfortable<\/strong>. Her care is not only professional but also deeply compassionate. She treats me with kindness, patience, and respect<\/strong>, and she makes me feel valued and supported<\/strong>. For someone who lives alone, this kind of care is incredibly meaningful. \u200bMy mom\u2019s health started deteriorating about 5 years ago as she approached 90 and I feel the biggest reason she still has fight in her is because of the care she receives from Circle of Care. Terri\u2019s help has given my mom dignity<\/strong>. When I was desperate and lost, Terri guided me. Her knowledge and experience showed immediately, along with her compassion<\/strong>. Vafa not only supervises students with professionalism and care but also serves as a mentor, fostering growth and confidence in future professionals<\/strong>; she also supervises volunteers<\/strong> that attend ADP regularly and assist on a variety of tasks.
