This summer, we\u2019re sharing a series called Why I Got Vaccinated<\/strong><\/em>, highlighting the stories of Circle of Care Personal Support Workers and Homemakers who have been vaccinated. Today, we\u2019re sharing the story of J. Dimatulac, who received her first dose of the vaccine in March, and received her second dose more recently.<\/p>\n How did you feel about getting the COVID vaccine?<\/strong><\/p>\n I was hesitant at first. People were saying a lot about the side effects, and it almost frightened me a bit. But the hesitation was really in my mind.<\/p>\n Why did you get vaccinated?<\/strong><\/p>\n I got the vaccine because I want to make my clients happy and safe. It\u2019s not just for me, but for my clients. I provide personal care, like helping my clients with their shower and cleaning. And some of my clients want me to be closer, but can\u2019t because I want to protect them. With the vaccine, it\u2019ll help provide comfort in knowing I\u2019m vaccinated.<\/p>\n What were you expecting from your first dose, and what was it like?<\/strong><\/p>\n After I got my first dose, I laughed and sighed in relief. I was actually expecting more side effects other than a sore arm. But several days passed and I didn\u2019t have any reaction. I recently received my second dose, and I still didn\u2019t have any major side effects from the vaccine.<\/p>\n How do you feel now that you\u2019ve been vaccinated?<\/strong><\/p>\n I take comfort in knowing that I\u2019m protected from any major side effects if I were to be infected with COVID-19. Some of my friends who weren\u2019t vaccinated got infected, and their effects from the virus were frightening, it was so scary. It was like they were gasping for air. Whereas my daughter who got vaccinated got infected as well, but she didn\u2019t have such extreme side effects \u2013 it was like a cold. But, her boyfriend who wasn\u2019t vaccinated got extreme side effects.<\/p>\n What are you looking forward to, now that you\u2019ve been vaccinated?<\/strong><\/p>\n Even though I\u2019ve received both my doses, I\u2019m still pretty cautious for the protection of my clients, family, and friends.
