Why I Got Vaccinated: Ayrin\u2019s Story<\/strong><\/h3>\n

This summer, we\u2019re sharing a series called Why I Got Vaccinated<\/em>, highlighting the stories of Circle of Care Personal Support Workers and Homemakers who have been vaccinated. Today, we\u2019re sharing Ayrin T.\u2019s story. Ayrin received her first dose in March and received her second dose more recently.<\/p>\n

How did you feel about getting the COVID vaccine? <\/strong><\/p>\n

I wasn\u2019t worried about the new vaccine because I knew that it was thoroughly tested for safety before they made it available to the public. I honestly expected worse, but the experience was just like the flu shots. I didn\u2019t have any fears, because I\u2019m used to getting the flu shot every year.<\/p>\n

Why did you decide to get vaccinated? <\/strong><\/p>\n

The benefits of getting the vaccine outweigh the risks. I got vaccinated because we\u2019re currently in a pandemic, and wanted to be as healthy and safe as possible. With my role as a healthcare worker in the community, I could have been exposed to COVID-19 from my clients, or there was a chance I could have unknowingly passed the virus on to them.<\/p>\n

Did you experience any side effects from your vaccination?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Yes, I had some side effects for both the first and second dose. For the first dose, I felt a little weak, had a sore arm, and had a chill in the middle of the night. Then, with my second dose, I experienced flu like symptoms and weakness that lasted for two days.<\/p>\n

How did you feel after being vaccinated? <\/strong><\/p>\n

I feel more confident and protected. I\u2019m still careful and exercise the same safety precautions, but at the same time, I have this sense of relief knowing I\u2019ve been vaccinated.<\/p>\n

What are you looking forward to now that you\u2019ve been vaccinated? <\/strong><\/p>\n

Once the province opens back up, I\u2019m excited about going back to the gym and attending church. I look forward to the simple pleasures of life, like being with family and friends, attend social gatherings, dining out, shopping, and traveling. It would be nice walking around without a mask and finally enjoy some outdoor fun.<\/p>\n
