This is an important day to highlight and acknowledge the vital care that you, our Personal Support Workers, provide for our clients in the community each and every day.

I am continually inspired and motivated by the information that I hear, the stories I read, and the conversations I have, regarding your impact on our clients’ happiness, health, and wellbeing. We know that our clients want to continue to age and live at home, and that without the work you do for them, it would not be possible for many of them.

There are times when you go into a client’s home and you receive a smile and a response of gratitude for the care you have provided. I am sure these moments leave you feeling proud and cheerful. However, there may be times when your clients are having difficult and frustrating days. It may appear that nothing seems to be going right for them, and you cannot help but take on some of their pain and sorrow. This is called empathy, which is an important trait for any caregiver and something that often comes naturally for Personal Support Workers.

You have a desire to help and make people’s lives better, and that is why so many of you chose a career in healthcare in the first place. You give independence and dignity to our clients and you make our clients comfortable and safe. What a valuable and rewarding gift you provide and you should be so proud of this. Remind yourself every day of the beauty of your contributions.

As Personal Support Workers, you are the face of our organization. We are incredibly proud that all of you represent many different backgrounds, cultures, and previous work experiences because diversity and inclusion is a priority at Circle of Care. On behalf of our clients, our Board of Directors and on behalf of our staff and management, I want to extend a sincere THANK YOU to all of you, and wish you the BEST PSW Day. Our clients are so lucky to have you in their lives, and we are grateful that you have chosen to be a part of our organization, Circle of Care.

Have a beautiful day.

Warm regards,
Carey Lucki
Chief Executive Officer
Circle of Care

Today, on May 19th, we celebrate Personal Support Worker Day.
