Flu season in Ontario typically lasts from late fall to early Spring, with the peak occurring during the December holiday season.

The flu shot, coupled with current Public Health recommendations around physical distancing, mask use and hand hygiene, remain the best way to prevent seasonal influenza or to reduce the risk of complications.

In Ontario, the flu vaccine is free for everyone over the age of 6 months and a health card is not required. Receiving an annual flu shot is especially important this year. Flu shots are available through Public Health Units, Family Physicians and local Pharmacies.
