AVAILABILITY CHANGE PROCESS

During Probation

All New Hires are expected to maintain their stated availability for a period of 6 months after onboarding and before any availability changes can be requested. Any Availability Change Request made before the end of the 6 month window can be considered however, there is no guarantee that it will be accommodated and will depend on operational needs.

Required Timeline
If your new availability is approved, it may take at least 2 weeks before it is reflected in your schedule. This time period will allow your Service Coordinator to transition any high risk clients to avoid disruption in client’s care.

Temporary Availability Changes
You may request a temporary availability change. Please indicate the length of time for the temporary availability. Your temporary availability change request may or may not be approved, based on caseload needs. Any urgent same day availability change must be made by speaking to your Service Coordinator or to the call centre LIVE (no voicemails or messages).

Weekend Requirements

PSWs hired after April 1, 2017 are required to be available to work every other weekend. Employee must provide a minimum of eight (8) hours of availability over two (2) weekend days, every other weekend. Failure to provide such availability will result in a breech of employment contract and may result in disciplinary action. This does not apply to Homemakers.
