As we continue to hear about the rise of COVID-19 cases across the country and face increasing social restrictions, loneliness can take its toll on our mental health. Having a well-rounded daily routine can still leave a void when it comes to connecting. Here are some solutions to adding connections into your routine:

  • Schedule calls with family and friends to check in.
  • Look into community resources. The City of Toronto has partnered with a variety of organizations to offer additional support to residents during COVID-19. https://www.toronto.ca/home/covid-19/covid-19-protect-yourself-others/covid-19-mental-health-resources/
  • Get some fresh air to overcome the feeling of being stuck at home.
  • Share your isolation activity (such bird watching, playing a musical instrument) with others to connect with people who share your hobbies.
  • Request assistance. Trained counsellors are available to talk about issues of stress, worry, isolation and fears about the future. You can access our Employee Assistance Plan for free by calling 1-800-387-4765.
