Yesterday the Premier of Ontario announced that the province will be under new restrictions in order to reduce the number of COVID-19 infections. These new restrictions will start at 12:01 AM on Saturday, December 26 and will last until January 23 in our region.

  • Schools will not reopen on January 4th as expected. All students will learn online from January 4 to January 8. Elementary students will return to class on January 11, and secondary students will return to class on January 25. These dates are likely to change and school closures may be extended, so visit the website for your school board or the Ministry of Education to stay informed.
  • Some childcare programs (for non-school age children) may continue but please contact your childcare provider to discuss their plans. If you anticipate childcare may impact your availability to work in January, please discuss with your supervisor as soon as possible.
  • No indoor social gatherings are permitted, and no one should allow visitors into their home.

It’s been a long and difficult year, please rest and recover this holiday season – you deserve it. Keep your physical distance, wear your mask, and stay safe.
