Updated Information about the Monkeypox Virus
There are 367 confirmed cases of monkeypox in Ontario and 77.9% of the confirmed cases were reported by Toronto Public Health.
Monkeypox can spread from person-to-person through respiratory droplets (e.g. coughing, sneezing, talking, etc) or through close, physical contact with someone who has Monkeypox (especially from contact with the rash, bodily fluids (e.g. blood, saliva, urine, etc), and/or scabs). It can also spread by touching contaminated items (e.g. bedding, clothes, etc).
At Circle of Care 4 point PPE (mask, eye protection, isolation gown, gloves) are required for any client that screens positive or is a confirmed case of Monkeypox.

A New Change to Create Balance and Increase Support
Starting mid-August, the Client Services Coordination team will have float coordinators assigned to specific teams. This will help to provide better support to Service Coordinators and their caseloads.
“By having a float coordinator specifically assigned to a team, they can become familiar with the clients, geography, and staff on that team,” says Aleksandra Janik, Client Services Manager.
By making this change, there will be an increased amount of continuity for our clients and dedicated support for staff if they were to replace someone temporarily for vacation.
PSW Cynthia: A Champion Leader for the Community
Cynthia has been with Circle of Care for 20 years and is a leader for our PSW team.
“There will always be challenges and stressful situations that come into your life. It’s how you manage them that’s really important,” says Cynthia.
In June 2022, Cynthia was presented with Circle of Care’s Champion of the Year Award through our Champions of Care program.
