Looking for PSWs & Homemakers to Join our New Committee (Paid Commitment)
Circle of Care is starting a new committee called the Workplace Wellbeing and Employee Engagement Committee. We are looking for 3 PSWs or Homemakers to join the committee.
What sort of commitment are we looking for from a PSW/Homemaker?
The committee will meet 4 times per year (every 3 months), for approximately 1 hour. PSW/Homemakers who join the committee will be expected to attend the meetings over ZOOM, and will be paid for their time. We expect all members to contribute to discussions and topics by sharing their ideas and opinions, and to work towards helping the committee achieve our work plan.
When is the first meeting?
The first meeting will be on Thursday March 23 from 1:00-2:00pm over ZOOM. ZOOM details will be sent to committee members.
What is the committee going to discuss/work on?
The purpose of the Workplace Well-being and Employee Engagement Committee is to provide input into Healthy Workplace programs and resources that are focused on employee well-being, foster employee engagement, promote employee recognition, uphold a culture of safety, and to ensure Circle of Care implements these programs and resources in alignment to Excellence Canada’s Healthy Workplace Standard.
I am interested. How do I sign up?
Please note that by signing up you are committing to at least a one-year term. Please connect with Kai Svirida at ksvirida@circleofcare.com or 647-724-5679 before March 13 to express your interest in signing up.

Circle of Chefs Recipe Challenge
Cooking and sharing recipes are a great way to improve individual healthy eating habits and cooking skills. During the month of March, to celebrate the theme of Nutrition Month, we invite you to share your favourite recipe and a picture of that recipe for a chance to win a prize. To participate in the challenge, submit your favourite recipe with an accompanying photo to Evleen Khai ebenicta@circleofcare.com by Friday, March 31st to be entered into a draw to win 2000 Applause points. Challenge winners will be announced in the April newsletter, and we will distribute a virtual cookbook to include all recipes that are submitted throughout the Recipe Challenge.
International Women’s Day
International Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8th, and this year’s theme is ‘Every Woman Counts’. It’s a reminder that all women, from all ages and walks of life, have a place in every aspect of society – including the economic, social and democratic spheres. It is important to celebrate the successful women around us, and remind our youth and girls that their dreams are within reach.
Ways to get involved:
- Register for the Canadian Women in History course that celebrates the outstanding achievements of women throughout Canada’s history. While this free course targets grade 6-12 students (grade 6 to secondary 5 in Quebec), everyone can create an account and learn! (The course will be available until the end of June 2023 at a minimum.)
- Learn more about inspiring Canadian women and gender equality in Canada:
- Explore the Women of Impact in Canada gallery and the Women in Canadian History: A Timeline showcasing the achievements of Canadian women in various fields such as politics, sciences, and the arts.
- Consult the Gender equality timeline for an overview of gender equality milestones in Canada.
- Watch Heritage Minutes videos on inspiring Canadian women.
Winter Walking Tips
The following tips are important to keep in mind to reduce winter hazards, and to reduce slips, trips and falls during winter weather:
- Keep your hands out of your pockets when you walk – so you can catch yourself if you slip and fall
- Dress appropriately for the amount of time you’ll be spending outside – keep your head covered and wear layers of insulating fabrics (like wool). Don’t leave skin exposed in extreme temperatures and change clothing as soon as possible if it gets wet.
- Be aware of your surroundings
- Make eye contact with approaching drivers and cyclists before crossing the road
- Wear bright reflective clothing at night or during poor visibility
- Pay attention and don’t text while walking
Ask Us Anything
I couldn’t attend the Mental Health webinar. Will the webinar be run again for those who couldn’t attend the first time?
Thank you for your interest in the Your Health Space sessions that were facilitated by the Canadian Mental Health Association. We are looking into the possibility of offering additional sessions focus on mental health for front line health care workers, and as any details are confirmed they will be communicated! In the meantime, you can review the session handouts which will give you an overview of the important topics covered in the course:
We invite you to submit your questions or feedback below. Please note that it may take us longer to provide some answers, so if you’ve asked a question that hasn’t been answered yet, we will get back to you in the coming weeks.
