All PSWs and Homemakers are entitled to annual vacation under the Collective Agreement. Vacation time and vacation pay is based on length of continued service, calculated as of September each year. The following is a breakdown of vacation benefits:
Length of Service | Number of Weeks Off | Vacation Pay % |
1 year – 3 years | 2 weeks | 4% |
3 years – 8 years | 3 weeks | 6% |
8 years – 15 years | 4 weeks | 8% |
15 years – 25 years | 5 weeks | 10% |
Please note that the time you book off for vacation is not paid, as vacation pay is paid out on an annual basis in September. Ask Us Anything
There was a suggestion here before to send flyers to clients stating the roles and responsibilities of PSW to help them understand. As some client are asking to do things that are not part of our duties.
Yes! We did indeed receive suggestions asking us to put together flyers for clients around the scope of duties of our PSWs, and we’re happy to say that we have finished putting together a brochure in both English and Russian on this topic, and that these brochures have been given out to Client Services Supervisors and Case Managers to use as part of their education for clients. If you have a particular client of yours who is not understanding your roles and responsibilities, we encourage you to let your CSS know, so that they can have a conversation with the client and give them a brochure.
After checking my pay stubs several times I noticed that our Zoom meetings that occurred on March 6, 2024 and April 5, 2024 was still not paid. Any chance to contact the Payroll department for clarification of the issue was unsuccessful. Payroll department said that first it was too late, and second there was no evidence that I was present in the zoom session. My question is, is this normal, that I have to beg for money that I earned?
We followed up with the Payroll and Learning and Development departments regarding your question. They first noted that we did not have an Elder Abuse session offered on April 5. In addition, everyone that attended was asked to type their name into the chat with their PSW number, that way attendance could be confirmed. The Learning & Development team also called out names that were supposed to be in the session but hadn’t check in. If there was no message with a name, or no verbal confirmation, the person was marked as absent.
If you attended the session but did not provide your name and PSW number, we cannot pay you for the session, as we do not have proof that you attended.
After completing the 650 hours or the probationary period in less than 6 months, what are the benefits we can get.? Thank you for taking time to answer this.
Once our HR team has verified eligibility for our new hires (completing the requisite 650 hours), we send your information to Global Benefits. From here, you will receive information from Global Benefits about enrollment in the program and about the specifics of what is covered in the plan. To confirm, or inquire contact: HRDept@circleofcare.com
We invite you to submit your questions or feedback below. Please note that it may take us longer to provide some answers, so if you’ve asked a question that hasn’t been answered yet, we will get back to you in the coming weeks.
