Important! Action Required: Complete Your Vulnerable Sector Screen (VSS)
Please read the entire message.
Dear Personal Support Workers and Homemakers,
You must complete a Vulnerable Sector Screen (VSS). This is a new requirement, and it is a special criminal background check.
What is the VSS?
- When you started working at Circle of Care, you did a basic background check.
- The VSS goes deeper. It checks for criminal records in local, RCMP, and youth databases.
- This is to keep our clients safe. Many healthcare providers use this check.
Steps to Complete the VSS
- Apply: Go to your local police station (in person or online) and apply for the VSS.
- Pay: You pay for the VSS upfront and send your receipt to klucki@circleofcare.com for reimbursement.
- Receive Results: You will get your VSS results in about 10 business days. Please send the results to klucki@circleofcare.com within 30 days.
- Reimbursement: After you send your results, HR will refund you within 30 days. The refund will show up in your next pay.
Need Help Paying for the VSS?
If you cannot afford to pay for the VSS upfront, contact HR at klucki@circleofcare.com. We can cover the cost and help you with the process.
Fingerprinting
If name-based checks don’t confirm your identity, you may need to provide fingerprints. We will also refund you for any fingerprinting costs.
Positive Results
HR will review any positive (criminal) results to see if they affect your job. For new employees, you must have a clear VSS result to keep your job offer. Current employees with serious criminal records may face termination.
Already Have a VSS?
If you completed a VSS in the last 6 months, please send it to klucki@circleofcare.com. Note: We will not reimburse for previous VSSs.
Deadline
Send your VSS results and receipt by November 29, 2024.
