Circle of Care is committed to the prevention of workplace violence and harassment. We strive to ensure our work environment is safe for all employees. Our Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) has determined that the hazard of workplace violence and harassment is ‘medium risk’ for our community employees. As such, we have created an annual training, risk assessment and communication campaign to increase awareness of these hazards and to promote employee safety and well-being.
All employees have been enrolled into an e-learning course through Dayforce that focuses on Workplace Violence and Harassment. If you haven’t already done so, please make arrangements to complete this by September 5, 2025. You will be paid 30 minutes of training time.
Our JHSC also tracks and ensures necessary follow up on any reports of workplace violence and/or harassment. In the past 3 months, there have been 19 reported incidents, mostly involving incidents between clients and employees. We are committed to sharing these metrics with you on a quarterly basis, and encourage you to review our JHSC meeting minutes to learn more about incidents and corrective actions related to workplace violence and harassment:
We would like to remind all employees, that any act of violence committed by or against anyone is unacceptable conduct that will not be tolerated. Every effort has been made to identify possible sources of violence and to implement procedures to control the risks. No employee, volunteer, or any other individual associated with Circle of Care shall subject any other person to workplace violence or allow or create situations that allow workplace violence to occur. Everyone is expected to uphold this policy and to work together to prevent workplace violence.
If you encounter any situations where you are experiencing violence or harassment, whether in the community or at a client’s home, please ensure you take the proper steps to get yourself to safety, and call the office/your CSS to report the incident.
