Please note: This message was also sent as an All-Call to all PSWs and Homemakers on the morning of March 11, 2020.

As we continue to hear about the increase in the number of cases of COVID-19, we would like to take the opportunity to share an update regarding infection prevention, as well as the measures that we have taken at Circle of Care to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Remember that the best defense against the spread of virus is to practice proper hand hygiene. Washing hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds is the best defense against spreading illnesses. We highly recommend you wash your hands before, after and during client visits, and remember to wear gloves when necessary. If soap and water are not readily available, please use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.

Notify your supervisor immediately if:

  • Your client has recently travelled or they are experiencing a new cough or a new fever.
  • If you are experiencing flu-like symptoms such as: fever, cough, shortness of breath and breathing difficulties.

Our COVID-19 Prevention Working Group meets every day to monitor the information that is sent daily from the Ministry of Health and Public Health Ontario. We are also working closely with our partners including Sinai Health, North York Toronto Health Partners, North Toronto Health Team, Home Care Ontario, LHINs and Ontario Community Support Association to ensure that we are implementing similar practices within our organizations around the management of supplies and human resources.
