Meals on Wheels Celebrates Community Response to Call for Volunteer Drivers
We’re thrilled by the overwhelming response that we’ve received to our call for Meals on Wheels volunteer drivers!
For a few weeks in March and April, our Meals on Wheels routes were being delivered by our employees – and we are so grateful for the support of our office staff in helping us keep our clients fed. We know it wasn’t easy to balance regular duties alongside providing support to our Meals on Wheels program.
Now, thanks to the volunteers that have reached out to us, we are able to resume volunteer-run routes across all our providers! We currently have 20 volunteers that have returned to deliver routes during the pandemic, as well as a staggering 105 new volunteers that have stepped forward and have either started or will be starting meal deliveries during the course of the pandemic.
This wonderful response means that we can continue to provide our clients with meals during the pandemic at a sustainable level!
Client Service Centre Rallies Together to Boost Call Answer Rate to 90%!
A special acknowledgement and thank you to Sheonne Harris and our team of Client Service Representatives for their hard work during these unprecedented times.
The team has rallied together over the last few months to adjust to the complexities of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as new challenges around having the entire team working remotely.
“The CSC team has risen to the occasion time and time again by working together and supporting each other,” says Sheonne, CSC Supervisor. “We’ve increased our overall productivity to its highest levels yet – an outstanding accomplishment!”
“I want to give a shout-out to everyone for re-arranging schedules to match work volumes and call flows, being responsive and willing to flex to turn things around and attain efficiencies in a short period of time. Their live answer rate is in the 90% range for April, which is a fantastic achievement for this team,” says Janelle Backan, Client Services Director.
Thank you to our CSC team!
Donation of iPads Connects Clients to Virtual Community
Some of Circle of Care’s isolated clients will soon be seeing some familiar faces once again.
Thanks to a generous donation of iPads by iLobby, Friendly Visiting and Hospice clients will be able to stay connected to their volunteers and to their own family members. Currently, volunteers are reaching out to clients through phone calls.
The iPads will come equipped with downloads of popular video chat applications so clients can easily connect. These devices will also make it possible for our clients to order groceries online.
Champions of Care
- “I want to take this time to recognize Soula Berdoussis, Umberto Micucci, Michael Rutherford, John Casalini, and Valariu Bortov. These drivers offered keep working during the pandemic, despite the potential risks they face. They are committed to helping our vulnerable clients. They give the true meaning to “care” – looking out for the health, welfare, maintenance, and protection of our clients. Thank you for all that you do and continue to do during these difficult times.” – Maria Campo
