Dear Personal Support Workers and Homemakers:
Today is Thursday, June 10th , and this is a message from Dara Zarnett, Vice-President of Operations and Strategy.
I first wanted to thank you all for everything you do to keep our clients and their loved ones safe. I’ve received many compliments from clients and their families about the difference you make in their life. Circle of Care is grateful for dedicated staff like you – in addition to the care you provide, you often treat your clients like family, and they love and appreciate you for it.
Many of you have heard the good news by now – on Friday, the province will allow re-opening of some stores and restaurants for outdoor eating. We are also seeing daily COVID-19 cases come down every day, which is a step in the right direction.
We have all been looking forward to this day, but please remember – the pandemic is not over. This week alone, more than 120 people in Ontario have died from COVID-19, and many of them are younger people. ICUs are still over-capacity. You still need to remain vigilant. Wearing PPE – such as face mask, face shield or goggles, and gloves – are still a requirement to perform your role. It is also important to practice frequent hand washing and maintain physical distancing when possible.
I’m thrilled to hear that many of you have received your first and second dose of vaccine. Thank you! We strongly recommend that all employees get vaccinated, particularly staff who are delivering care directly to our clients. Care for yourself, your family, and your clients, by getting your vaccine. As more Canadians get their second dose, being fully vaccinate will let you participate in things you may have been missing, such as travel, faith gatherings and cultural events.
Once again, I want to thank you for everything that you do, and continue to stay well, and to stay safe.
