News & Information

New PSWs Are Having their Schedules Filled Faster with New SAFA Autoscheduling Feature

We launched a new autoscheduling tool called SAFA Autoscheduling that builds the schedules of new PSWs up to 80% of their target hours during their availability, in as little as five days.

It used to take 1-2 months for a service coordinator to fill the schedules of new PSWs, but with SAFA Autoscheduling, it now takes 1-2 weeks.

“Early feedback from our new PSWs is very promising,” says Janelle Backan, Director of Operations. “What’s great is their schedules are being filled primarily with regular clients that they can start to build working relationships with right away.”

As a result of the rollout of SAFA Autoscheduling, the Service Coordination team cleaned up client data within our EasyCare system, and ensured that client preferences (such as PSW language or gender preferences) were up to date and accurate. And we published a new policy that requires PSWs to check their phones regularly, as new visits could be added to their schedules within their availability at any point.

CEO Carey Lucki Sends Email to Clients about Omicron

On December 30, our CEO Carey Lucki sent an email to our clients and caregivers explaining what we’re doing to keep clients and staff safe during the Omicron wave of the pandemic.

Her letter discussed:

  • our current 4-point PPE guidelines for staff
  • client and family safety measures, including masking for clients
  • changes to our programs and services
  • an encouragement to our clients and caregivers to register for a booster shot appointment

Champions of Care

This program is designed to recognize employees who go above and beyond their day-to-day duties, and who exemplify Circle of Care’s values. A friendly reminder that nominations are used to determine the yearly Champions of Care Award winners. Nominations submitted by employees on behalf of their colleagues should be specific and detailed regarding why the employee deserves to be nominated. As much as possible, you must provide examples that back up your nomination, as this helps the senior team select winners each year. Failure to provide a detailed nomination may result in your nomination not being published.

Caring Together

A Memory for Music: Michael and Gail’s Story

Gail and Michael perform in-person and virtually at a variety of open-mic nights. But, they aren’t your typical open-mic performers. Gail has stage two Alzheimer’s disease, and her husband Michael is her primary caregiver.

“When you put the music sheet in front of her, all of a sudden she can sing the words more consistently and she can emote better,” says Michael.

Gratitude Shared for Circle of Care Events

In 2021, our teams ran a variety of programs for our clients to bring them together, reduce isolation, and improve their physical and mental health. We received the following message from one of our clients:

“I want to thank you all for all of the time and effort you have put into running events over the last year. I have enjoyed many of the events and am thankful that they have been available to help fill the long, long days of being alone and when I have had to stay in my apartment and not go anywhere because of COVID-19.”
