Dear PSWs and Homemakers:
In recent weeks, we have seen the price of gas increase around the world. We know that these increased costs have become stressful for many people, including many of our employees.
We are currently working with our industry partners, the Ontario Community Support Association (OCSA) and Home Care Ontario (HCO) to ask the government to provide more funding in light of the rising gas prices. Our hope is that by advocating to the government they may subsidize or add a premium to our current funding.
As members of SEIU, you currently receive the following support to offset the cost of gas:
- Subsidized Transit Pass: We pay 65% of a monthly PRESTO pass (up to $101.40 per month), regardless of whether you drive or take public transit. Please review Article 22.01 of your Collective Agreement.
- Mileage Claims: You are able to request a T2200 from Payroll to claim mileage on your income tax so please consult with a tax professional. To receive a T2200 form, contact Payroll at payroll@circleofcare.com.
We will update you on our progress as we continue to advocate on behalf of you, our workers, to the government. We cannot provide you with any definitive dates right now, but we will let you know if we hear anything from the government about our request.
