Dear Staff,

Over the past week, we have seen an enormous response south of our border to the recent deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor, both in the media, and also through strong calls for action from everyday Americans.

While situations of power inequality have been perpetrated for countless generations in the past, it is encouraging to see Canadians coming together to express support for fairer policies, better training and education for those in leadership roles, and justice for the oppressed within our own country, as well as in support for our neighbours to the south.

As a Canadian, you have the right to make your voice heard within our political sphere and to express your personal beliefs in the effort to move our society forward towards equality. We recognize that this call for change is taking place in the midst of a global pandemic, which can raise the personal health risk of those gathering together in crowds.

There are many ways for you to personally exercise your right to enact change. You may choose to donate to a charitable organization that aligns with your views, or to amplify the stories of those who have suffered from human rights injustices to raise awareness. You can speak to your political representatives.

If you choose to participate in a rally, march, or protest, we would like to remind you to please keep yourself as safe as you can by practicing physical distancing when possible, and by wearing a face mask and washing your hands frequently.

At Circle of Care, we have always been proud of our dedication to providing care to those who are vulnerable in our society and we will continue to advocate for those who cannot advocate for themselves and support those who cannot support themselves.
