Intake Team Connecting Seniors in Need with Services

Our intake team has been working hard over the last few months to connect seniors with services to assist them during the pandemic and beyond. Some of these seniors live within our catchment area, and we are able to refer them for our services.

However, other people who call do not live in our service area, and that’s when we work with our partners to ensure that they have somewhere to get services from.

Debra recently assisted one such man. This 53-year-old man had just been discharged from hospital after surgery, and had very little food at home. He was on the Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) and had both mental and physical disabilities, and was calling as he was self-isolating at home. Due to his condition, he needed soft food and he needed it to be kosher.

Debra arranged for urgent emergency meals to be delivered. Our KMOW team did a wonderful job with quickly responding to this request for emergency meals. Debra also connected him to UJA to receive a food basket and other services. She continued to stay in touch to ensure that the services were being started and to provide additional information.

A big thank you to our Intake team for their important work connecting callers living in the community to services that help to make such a big impact on their quality of life!

Sew for TO Donates Cloth Masks for iRIDE Clients

Our iRIDE clients will soon be receiving hand-sewn cloth masks as part of our safety measures as we start to increase our iRIDE services to include non-essential rides, including trips to the bank and to retail stores.

We are grateful to receive a donation of masks from Sew for TO. They are a volunteer community group working to get non-medical masks and surgical caps into the hands of medical workers, long-term caregivers, vulnerable community members and others in Toronto during the COVID-19 pandemic.

If you would like to sew masks for our clients, please connect with Lisa Rae at lrae@circleofcare.com.
