Personal Support Workers are eligible for additional support through the Ontario Government and there are a variety of resources available to help you cope during the COVID-19 pandemic. These support services include resources that you can access on your own, resources that you can access in a group setting with other peers, or with a registered clinician.

Self-Led Support

Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) has compiled a list of self-support resources for health care workers with the purpose of educating workers on how to maintain mental health while coping with stress. Resources available include tips for Coping with Stress and Anxiety, tips for Supporting yourself during the COVID-19 pandemic and information on the Psychological needs of Health Care Workers as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Support with Peers

Participate in an online session with other Health Care Workers and learn about ways to build resilience and maintain wellness through lecture series and case-based discussions by joining the ECHO coping with COVID support group, which is designed for health care workers responding to the COVID-19 pandemic. This group meets weekly on Friday from 2:00pm – 3:00pm.

Talk to a Clinician

Frontline Health Care Workers are eligible for confidential support from registered clinicians. You can self-refer online or by phone to any of these access points below. These access points are seeking to support health care workers who need rapid access to mental health services and seek to provide skills and counselling to enhance resilience and reduce the burden of any mental health symptoms.

Circle of Care’s Employee Assistance Program

Lastly, don’t forget about our Employee Assistance Program. Called the EAP, this program is free of charge for all PSWs and Homemakers.

Our EAP is offered by Morneau Shepell and aims to support employees and their families so that they can manage a variety of work, life and health challenges.  All services are strictly confidential, which means that Circle of Care does not know who has accessed these services.
