On November 26, the Ministry of Labour completed a Field Visit Report for Circle of Care in response to a complaint issued that: The Employer does not have proper protocols for disposing of PPE that may be contaminated with COVID-19 and the Employer is not informing workers of which patients have COVID-19.
The result of the Field Visit Report is that:
Workers are trained on how to properly put on, remove and dispose of PPE. This is done via training memos, videos and in person meetings. For workers working independently in the community, supervisors do spot checks to assure workers are following proper procedures.
For workers who are going to be working with a client they are required to ask the client COVID-19 related questions to help identify if a client may have COVID-19. If any of the questions are answered “yes” a “COVID Caution” is placed on that clients file for workers to see. If a client has tested positive then a “COVID Positive” is placed on clients file. In retirement home workplaces there is additional signage placed on the door to the room for workers to see prior to entry.
