Last month we invited our staff to participate in a Diversity and Inclusion survey to get a sense of how we are doing as an organization and how we can make improvements in this space going forward. We had a total of 123 respondents.
Here are some of the highlights from the feedback:
- 88% of respondents agreed that employees of all cultures and background are respected and valued at Circle of Care
- 92% of respondents reported feeling included and respected by their colleagues
- 91% of respondents agreed that at work, they can be successful as their authentic self
- 96% of respondents reported that if they had a concern about discrimination at work, they would feel comfortable reporting this
- 12% of respondents reported that they have felt discriminated against or have faced micro-aggressions while working at Circle of Care
We also received a variety of comments and suggestions about how we can make improvements going forward. Some areas that the committee will be focusing on in the next few months include:
- Promoting a culture of openness/acceptance and encouraging more staff to share their personal experiences
- Creating a flow chart/process document for reporting incidents of discrimination and creating scripts for staff members to use to promote zero tolerance
- Providing more training and learning opportunities for staff to learn about other cultures and experiences
