Reminder – Submit your COVID-19 Booster Doses

Getting vaccinated and staying up to date with your COVID-19 vaccines is the best way to protect yourself, your loved ones and our community from COVID-19 and its variants. If you have not already done so, please consider getting your third dose (first booster) as soon as possible, and getting your fourth dose if you have already received your third dose, and if you are eligible.

As a reminder, once you have received the third dose and/or fourth dose, please submit a copy to HRDept@circleofcare.com. You will also receive an additional 1 hour of payment on an upcoming pay.

Personal Threats and Attack

See below for tips when if you face personal threats or are attacked when travelling to work on your own.

Safety Tips

Proactively Ensuring Quality Control in Meals

Circle of Care is dedicated to delivering quality meals to our clients through our Meals on Wheels (MOW) program. With almost 300,000 meals delivered each year, some issues and challenges may arise. When addressing a complaint, our MOW team demonstrates excellent quality control in a timely manner

“We want to make sure that all our clients are satisfied with their meals, and we’ll investigate if a complaint has been brought to us,” says Inna Dantchenko, KMOW Supervisor.

If a complaint about the meal is visually incorrect (small or inconsistent portion, date of production, etc.) and the client has not eaten it, then the client is then asked to put the meal back in the freezer, and a MOW volunteer or staff will come by to replace the meal, and pick up the original meal for further investigation. From there, they will identify the reason for the complaint and next steps.

If a complaint about the meal stems from the taste (too salty, sweet, etc.) then MOW staff will either replace the meal after determining a quality issue, or provide a complementary meal depending on the circumstance. They will also order the meal and do a taste test between five staff members on the MOW team, and connect with the supplier if necessary. However, if all staff members agree that the taste is good, then they will communicate with the client and help determine other factors that may impede their taste.

All complaints or concerns with meals are addressed swiftly by our MOW team, ensuring that the quality of meals is met. Thank you to our Meals on Wheels team for consistently ensuring client satisfaction!

JULY
July 6: Psychological Health and Well-being Webinar

Salomon G: Providing Safe and Secure Rides in the Community

Salomon has been an iRide driver with Circle of Care for 12 years, and wishes that he knew about this position a lot sooner.

“I love helping seniors in the community,” says Salomon. “Whenever I’m able to help a client out of the van and into their building, it makes me feel good, because I know they’re safe and they’ve successfully made it to their destination.”

In June, Salomon was presented with the Champions of Care Award for Equity. He was nominated by many clients for often going above and beyond the call of duty. Read more about Salomon’s story by clicking the button below!

Champions of Care Nominations

Congratulations to this week’s Champions of Care nominees:

  • • “PSW Sara Lindo is very caring in the way she handles me. She takes her time to complete the task at hand without hurry. She’s very respectful and always refers to me by ‘Mrs Harris’, never my first name. Also, she’s very knowledgeable about the correct way to do the job including a hoyer lift. She always uses the correct codes when clocking out.” – Client
    • “Fran Fourohary is just absolutely so incredible. Every week she makes the classes great. She never repeats and always has different exercises. Her classes are just so good. Fran is helping me so much. She’s unbelievable!” – Client
    • “I had a misunderstanding with my client, and she sounded intimidating when she’s spoke to me. I felt so down that time and I didn’t know what to say, so when I got the chance, I decided to call my Coordinator, Marianna Piwoni, since she understands the client’s language. Marianna answered my call right away and listened to my situation. I immediately felt comfort and safety in my job.” – PSW Maria Cundangan
    • “I would like to nominate my Supervisor, Jessica Ruan, because every time I call her about my client, she responds immediately. She is new in our company but she demonstrates a sense of support to her team and the Circle of Care.” – PSW Maria Cundangan
