Changes to Availability Timeline for New Hires

We have made changes to the timeline for new hires to request changes to their availability. Starting immediately, new hires will only need to wait six (6) months before requesting any changes to their availability. Previously, new hires needed to wait 18 months. Please note that all availability requests will need to be filled out by form that will automatically be submitted to your CSS.

MSD Prevention – Paid E-Learning Course

This is our final reminder to complete the mandatory Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) course in Dayforce, as an initiative to increase awareness of MSD risk and prevention.

The training course can be accessed through your Dayforce account, or via the PSW portal and will take about 20 minutes to complete. This is paid training time, and employees will have until June 30, 2023 to complete the training. For those who complete the course prior to the June 30th deadline, please note that payment will be issued in July.

For step-by-step instructions on how to access Dayforce Learning, please visit our guide by clicking the button below:

Best Practices for Good Body Mechanics

Using correct body mechanics will help you avoid musculoskeletal strain, injuries to yourself or your client, and tiredness.

Some basic Body Mechanic practices to keep in mind to prevent MSDs:

When Standing

  • Keep your feet flat on the floor and about 12 inches apart
  • Do not lock your knees
  • Be aware of your posture – keep your shoulders down, chest out, and back straight
  • Change position as often as you can to relieve stress on your spine, increase circulation, and decrease muscle fatigue
  • Stretch when you can you can to help ease muscle tightness
  • Wear shoes that give you a firm foundation and keep you from slipping

When Lifting

  • Your feet should be flat on the floor, apart, with one foot slightly in front of the other
  • Before lifting, move close to and directly in front of the object
  • Hold the object close to your body
  • Keep your back straight
  • Bend from your hips and knees – do not bend at your waist
  • Avoid bending and twisting at the same time
  • Lift the object using your arms and leg muscles
  • Hold the object close to your body at your waist level
  • Use the same process if you need to push or pull something heavy
