Reminder – Check out our Employee Recognition Program, Applause!

Circle of Care values our employees and strives to recognize the work of exemplary staff whose efforts contribute greatly to the success of our organization. One of the ways that we do this is through Applause, our social and points recognition program*. Staff will be able to recognize or celebrate each other’s accomplishments in real time.

For those of you who have not yet activated your Applause account – you would have recently received an automated email inviting you to sign up for the platform.

Redeeming your points is very simple, and can be done on your computer or phone. Below, we’ve put together a tutorial for accessing the catalogue and redeeming points using the mobile app.

For any questions about Applause, you can reach out to HRDept@circleofcare.com

Reflective Tool for Responding to Life Transitions

A life transition can be positive or negative, planned or unexpected. Some life transitions happen without warning, and they may be quite dramatic, as in cases of accidents, death, divorce, job loss, or serious illness. Other life transitions come from positive experiences such as getting married, going away to college, starting a new job, moving to a new city, or giving birth to a child. Even though events like these are usually planned and anticipated, they can be just as life-changing.

We have developed a Reflective Tool that our employees can utilize to better understand, respond to, and manage life transitions.

Unjudge Someone – the Human Library Experience

Challenge stereotypes and prejudices through dialogue, and experience the Human Library. This virtual DEI event creates a safe space for dialogue between human ‘books’ and participants ‘readers’. The ‘books’ openly share their diverse cultural backgrounds, lifestyles, and life experiences and prompt and enriching and respectful conversation with readers. In short, this library allows you to borrow people instead of books, and it seeks to help bridge our divisions.

Upcoming sessions:

February 8

 from 9:00am – 11:00am

March 5

from 9:00am – 11:00am

Upcoming Mask Fit and CPR Sessions

Person performing CPR on a mannequin with text: "Upcoming! Mask fit testing and CPR training"

Circle of Care requires that all PSWs and Homemakers be certified with valid and current CPR training, and that employees be properly fitted for N95 masks.

Upcoming sessions for both CPR and mask fit are available. Appointments must be booked through our vendor, First Aid Care, and can be booked online here: http://register.firstaidcare.ca/ or by calling 905-272-9214

Important reminders – please read:
· Please arrive at the training session 15 minutes before the class begins.
· After you have booked your appointment, please speak to your Service Coordinator if you need any scheduling arrangements and have clients that you will need to be booked off from to attend the CPR and/or mask fit training. Please try to book a date/time where you do not have client visits scheduled.
· Your schedule will be blocked as ‘unavailable’ for you to attend the session. You do not need to use your phone to sign into the training.
· You will be paid a total of 4 hours for the training (CPR) and 1 hour for mask fit – this will be added to your schedule 1-2 weeks after the session has been completed and you will receive payment. The code will appear on your paystub as ‘Miscellaneous’
· All bookings/cancellations must be managed through the online portal. You will receive a confirmation email/text notification and will also receive a session reminder.

Ask Us Anything

I understand that there are going to be breaks between clients, but when you finish one client at 11am and your next client is 4pm that is just crazy to me. And yes I spoke to my coordinator about it several times. So my question is what do you suggest we do during these long breaks? It’s winter, and sometimes a coffee shop is not nearby.
Thank you for your inquiry. Although we strive to minimize gaps in the PSW’s schedules, we are also obligated to meet the needs of our clients for the times that service is required. We cannot guarantee that there will be no gaps in schedules and do encourage the PSWs to engage with their Coordinator for alternative scheduling options. If there are clients who require specific times, we will schedule staff who are available so that we can meet our contractual obligations. If you have a long gap in your schedule, you can either go home during that time, or you can travel to a local mall, library, or community centre and wait there. That way you can stay warm in the winter months, and cool in the summer months, as you wait for your next client visit.

If I want to see my hours worked from my joining date (December 2022) to today’s date then how I can see that? I am not able to see my daily worked hours beyond December 2023 on the Exalt app.
If you want to look at the number of hours you’ve worked over a longer period of time, we recommend that you look at your paystub. You can do that on Dayforce. If you check your last paystub of the year it will show the year to date values (YTD) and this will allow you to figure out how many total hours you have worked in a year.
