Happy Purple Day
All SEIU Circle of Care members are invited to Happy Purple Day. The event will take place at Earl Bales Park (4169 Bathurst St.) on Saturday July 20 from 1pm to 5pm.
Friendly Reminder: Help Us Shape Our New Vision, Mission, and Values!
Circle of Care is developing our new Vision, Mission, and Values, which communicate to our staff, clients, and everyone in the community what our purpose is, how we strive to fulfill it, and what values we hold dear.
In the survey, you will find proposed options for our Vision and Mission statements, and for our Values. These options were developed after extensive market research, focus groups with our PSWs, partners and volunteers, and brainstorming sessions with office staff.
You have until July 25 to fill out this short survey. It should take you no more than 3-5 minutes.
Thanks in advance for your feedback!
Reminder: Redeem your Applause Points – The new deadline to Redeem is July 19th
We have extended the deadline to redeem your Applause points until Friday, July 19. This is the last possible extension, and after this date, the points will be lost. You can transfer your point balance onto a single gift card via the Applause Catalogue. Points that are redeemed for a cash gift card (ie. VISA. MasterCard, Amazon), or over $500 total in value, will be a taxable benefit.
If you are not able to log into your Applause account, please contact Human Resources at HRDept@circleofcare.com, 416-635-2900 x267, or 416-270-6376 and we can assist with account resets.
For detailed instructions on how to redeem you points, please refer the linked PDF and video tutorial:

Guiding Principles for using Person Centered Language
When you are working with your clients, it is important to be cognizant of the language that you are using. When speaking to clients, you want to make sure that you are using Person Centered Language (PCL). This means that you are speaking without judgment or bias, that you are being specific, and that you are being respectful to the client.
Brene Brown’s Guide to Empathy
Watch the video below as Brene Brown explains empathy. It’s a short and animated video. This video is great if you want to understand how to build stronger relationships:
Beyond Silence: e-Mental Health Program
Don’t forget to check-out the ‘Beyond Silence’ app! This is a free and confidential mental health support program for you. Through the app, you can access resources to support your mental well-being, and you are able to speak with a trained Peer Support Provider. You can access the app on your Circle of Care work phone, and on your personal device.
