As we continue to hear about the increase in the number of cases of COVID-19, we would like to take the opportunity to share an update regarding infection prevention, as well as the measures that we have taken at Circle of Care to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Quick Tips to Help Prevent the Spread of Infection

Remember that the best defence against the spread of virus is to practice proper hand hygiene. Washing hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds is the best defense against spreading illnesses. We highly recommend you wash your hands before, after and during client visits, and remember to wear gloves when necessary. If soap and water are not readily available, please use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.

Notify your manager immediately if:

  • If your client has recently travelled or they are experiencing a new cough or a new fever.
  • If you are experiencing flu-like symptoms such as: fever, cough, shortness of breath and breathing difficulties.

If you haven’t already received a flu shot, we encourage you to do so at your nearest pharmacy or public health unit.

What is Circle of Care doing to monitor the situation with COVID-19?

Our core Emergency Preparedness team, comprised of Client Services, Human Resources, and Office Management, continues to meet weekly and as needed to monitor the information that is sent daily from the Ministry of Health and Public Health Ontario.

We are also working closely with our partners including Sinai Health, North York Toronto Health Partners, North Toronto Health Team, Home Care Ontario, LHINs and Ontario Community Support Association to ensure that we are implementing similar practices within our organizations around the management of supplies and human resources.

Thank you for your timely interventions!

We thank all of our front-line staff, including our PSWs who have been identifying clients who have a new cough or fever.

Your attention to this matter will go a long way in keeping everyone healthy, and preventing the spread of the virus to other clients and/or staff.
