The Continuation of Linking Generations Together
Recently, Circle of Care received funding to continue our Link Generations program! Through this program, clients are able to connect with younger generations and learn from each other, while also creating a significant connection to one another virtually.
Young adults participating in the program undergo a training session prior to the start of the program. They have an open dialogue on topics they would like to discuss, and learn about challenges that may occur when communicating with older adults. Client recruitment for the program will begin in September, and the next session for this program will start in October. If you would like to refer a client to this program, please connect with Mila Robinson, Volunteer Resources Coordinator.
Thank you to everyone who helped obtain this funding, and a special thank you to Lisa Rae and Josi Sarne for spearheading and putting together the funding application.

Marie J: Her Nature for Helping Others
PSW Marie explains that her role is important in many ways and sometimes she’s the only one her clients have to depend on.
“I inspire them and make them smile,” Marie proudly says. “It’s always been in my nature to help others.”
In June 2022, Marie was presented with Circle of Care’s Person-Centred Care Award through our Champions of Care program.

Upcoming Support Groups for Clients
Circle of Care is hosting free support groups for clients on the following topics:
(1) Virtual Stress Management Support Group starting at the end of August for clients and families. Topics include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), relaxation/breathing techniques and conflict resolution.
(2) Early Days Grief Group starting in September. Participants will have the opportunity to acknowledge the death, normalize the common characteristics of grief, and support their early adjustment to the challenging road ahead within a compassionate, judgement–free environment.
If you feel that a client of yours would benefit from this group, we invite you to share the link/information with them.
Champions of Care Nominations
Congratulations to this week’s Champions of Care nominees:
- “I would like to recognize Aniko Horvath for her persistence and dedication to getting the job done. Aniko has had a to-do list of 130-180 client visits to schedule each week throughout July. She has been able to manage her work days efficiently and has been able to complete tasks on time despite being short of staff and having additional PSW schedules removed along the way. While facing scheduling challenges, Aniko maintains positive relationships with her clients, staff, and peers and truly exemplifies excellence and accountability in her role. Aniko, thank you for giving 100% effort every day, you are amazing!” – Alicia Pelletier
